Construction Material Quantity Calculator
Get an indicative bill of materials for a house from its built-up area, using standard per-square-foot consumption for Indian RCC framed construction.
Inputs
- Total built-up area (square feet)
How this calculation works
- Cement ≈ 0.4 bags per sq ft
- TMT steel ≈ 3.5 kg per sq ft
- Bricks ≈ 8 pieces per sq ft
- Sand ≈ 1.8 cu ft per sq ft, aggregate ≈ 1.35 cu ft per sq ft
Example: A 1,000 sq ft house needs roughly 400 cement bags, 3,500 kg of TMT steel, 8,000 bricks, 1,800 cu ft of sand and 1,350 cu ft of aggregate.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are per square foot material rates?
They are indicative planning figures for standard residential RCC construction. Actual quantities depend on the structural design, number of floors, span and finishing specification.
Does this include finishing materials?
No. It covers the structural shell — cement, steel, bricks, sand and aggregate. Tiles, paint, electrical, plumbing and joinery are estimated separately.
